THE OPENING SPEECH BY THE PRESIDENT OF DIVINE INTERVENTION IMPACT FOUNDATION (MRS FUNMILAYO OKENE) AT THE 2023 DIIF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN SUMMIT

It is a thing of joy to witness this year’s edition of WOMEN SUMMIT – I believe everyone here feels the same. I want to thank the Most Gracious God for this great day that reminds us of the essence of Christmas in our lives and societies.

Please permit me to most delightfully acknowledge the Directors of this Organisation, all guests, dignitaries, team members, Volunteers and well-wishers at this event today. I start by recognising the presence of Guest Speakers Mrs Adesanya Dorcas, Mrs. Bamidele Olaoye Mrs. Adedoyin Sutton and Prof . Comfort Amire Founder of Summit of Hope Foundation and UN Amb. Eunice Omolayo.

I would like to recall some of our achievements in the recent past. In 2022, over 250 children benefited from the DIIF scholarship, while 20 children benefited from DIIF in partnership with the Summit of Hope Scholarship. Vitalink International Academy offered two of the DIIF children full scholarships with Harmony International School supporting the children with cash prizes.

Every May 27, we hold colourful and elaborate children’s parties for all and sundry and this year was not an exemption. Every last Thursday of the month, our Foundation in partnership with Summit of Hope donates relief items to widows, senior citizens and less privileged individuals within the Ado Odo-Otta Local Government area. The Foundation also occasionally organises vocational training for youths and women within the suburb.

This year’s International Women Summit focuses on Wise Woman, Who is wise? What are the attributes of a wise woman, and what makes a woman wise? This event features free medical checkups; Blood tests, BP tests, body massages and donation of raw food. For today’s event, we have invited Christian and Muslim women, widows, hearing-impaired persons, and physically challenged persons.

God willing, the Foundation hopes to support a widow in January 2024. She was found in the sun doing labour work on farmland with her children in the hot weather, with her children out of school. We want to return those children to school and support the woman to start a small business.
